Welcome to FIPAD, the Fishing Protocol for Archaeological Discoveries (Sussex Inshore Fisheries Conservation Area).

FIPAD is a voluntary reporting Protocol for reporting finds of archaeological interest that will help us better understand the UK’s rich maritime history.  This Protocol is currently being trialled in the Sussex Inshore Fisheries Conservation Area.

FIPAD and the post of Historic Environment Fisheries Liaison Officer (HEFLO) is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and implemented by Wessex Archaeology in collaboration with Sussex Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority.
